Located in Lighthouse Commons, parking is quite easy. There are seven accessible spaces in the large, paved lot. Street-level, double doors take you to the vestibule, and then to the carpeted lobby. We found a well-sto,ocked concession stand (with liquor soon to come). If you have to wait there is some seating here. Multi-stall restrooms, with a large, accessible stall and accessible sinks are located here. There are no baby-changing facilities.
The main theater is easily accessible. Wheelchair, and companion seating is available. It is also nice that no steps are required to get to any of the cushioned seats.Wide aisles and no steps are a real plus. Another plus is that the seats are spacious enough so that one doesn’t need to get us to let others pass! A lovely “VIP” section has cabaret style seating (tables and chairs). This fully accessible area is carpeted as well.
Besides a full schedule of shows, there is children’s theater and special events.
For a bit of history, this was another abandoned Long Island moved theater that was given a new life by a group of visionary, led by Noel Ruiz. He began his mission in 1985, and by 1995 had grown large enough to need a large, permanent space. With dedicated volunteers who helped keep costs manageable, the Noel Ruiz Theater opened in 1997.
We have seen several performances here and there have all been incredible Every role seemed perfectly cast, with the performers giving 110%. Broadway quality with no hassle and unbelievable prices.
As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.cmpac.com, when planning a visit, to “know more before you go.”
