After our walk on the Long Beach Boardwalk we wanted some lunch. Jordan Lobster Farms was it. We had not been there in a very long time, but remembered it as being delicious, so off we went. Located in Island Park at Reynolds Channel, it is not far from the Boardwalk.
Street parking was available in the middle of a weekday afternoon, but we parked in the gravel lot with two handicapped spaces, just across the street.
Jordan’s is a combination fish store, retail outlet and restaurant, with a “take away” window on the street. It has been family owned since 1938. The décor is New England Nautical. If you are going to the store or restaurant there are six steps to the double-door entrance. Once inside you will find yourself in the retail store. A host/hostess will escort you to a table or banquette in one of the dining areas. If steps are a problem, walk around to the large, outdoor dining patio where you will find a lift to take you to the restaurant level. If you want to sit outside you don’t need to go up the steps or use the lift at all. That is, unless you need a restroom, which is located in a somewhat narrow hallway between the lift and dining rooms.
The restrooms are multi-stall, with large, handicapped-accessible stalls. There are no baby-changing facilities.
Now lunch! The extensive seafood menu focuses on lobster and crab, with some “landlubber” choices. I am usually reluctant to order a whole lobster because I am too lazy to work at it. On this day I decided to wear the bib and work at getting my lunch out of the shell. It was definitely worth it! My husband ordered the lobster roll, which had some of the largest chunks of lobster I have ever seen in a lobster roll. Excellent choices by each of us – delicious! Jordan’s website says they, “pride themselves on…the highest quality seafood and optimal customer service.” Based on our experience, we agree!
As always, we at Destination Accessible advise you to check a venue’s website, http://www.jordanlobsterfarms.com, when planning a visit, to “know before you go.”
