Meeting a friend for lunch brought me to City Cellar, a place we had frequented before. The four van-accessible, handicapped parking spaces are the closest spots to the entrance.

City Cellar has a street level revolving door main entrance. To its right is a single door entrance which is handicapped-accessible.

Once inside you are transported to a lovely, low light restaurant with an elegant, yet casual feel.

Since we arrived after 1:00 pm we had our choice of seats and dining areas.  We chose to sit toward the bar area in a spacious booth.  Smooth tile floors, plus tables and chairs that are well spaced making navigation easy.  The bar/lounge area has a full height bar plus couches and tables for a more intimate setting. There is a lovely outdoor dining area as well.

We settled in to “catch up.” After taking drink orders our server gave us plenty of time to consider what we wanted to eat. He never rushed us, but was sure to make sure that we were well taken care of.  The lunch menu is quite varied, with something for everyone. The website describes the cuisine as “American Modern.”  Our choices were delicious.  Too bad we didn’t have room for dessert, as we were told that they are all made, “in-house.”  If you are interested, City Cellar boasts a huge wine list.  They also offer a Sunday, Jazz Brunch. This was a lovely place to have an unhurried get-together.

Multi-stall restrooms with large handicapped-stalls and baby-changing stations are located in a wide hallway to the left of the bar area.

As always, we at Destination Accessible advise you to check a venue’s website, http://www.citycellarny.com, when planning a visit, to “know before you go.”
