As we returned from a tour of our “old neighborhoods” in the Bronx, our friends suggested dinner at New Bodai Restaurant in Flushing, Queens.
Located on Main Street, just off theng Island Expressway, one does not expect a parking lot. They do not have one! However, at 4:30 pm on a Sunday afternoon we were able to get a spot just across the street from the restaurant. Our friends, who have been here many times, say that they have never had to park more than a block away
We entered the street-level, double door entryway, and then another door to the restaurant itself. It is not “fancy,” but the food and hospitality more than make up for what it may lack in decoration. There is plenty of room between tablese making navigation easy.
New Bodai is both vegetarian and kosher. The extensive menu (they offer more than 15 soups) made it hard to decide what to order. We left the ordering to our experienced friends. Everything we had was delicious! The staff was very friendly, accommodating and helpful !
The large, single-occupancy, handicapped-accessible restroom is located at the back of the restaurant.
We will definitely be back !
