I was meeting a friend at Walt Whitman Mall in Huntiington. She suggested The Cheesecake Factory. I had not been there in some time so I was all for it.
Since this is a shopping center there is plenty of parking. Four handicapped spaces are just in front of the restaurant. There are others throughout the parking lots.
The restaurant is not located inside the mall. Although not far,it is in a separate buildinthe south end of the mall, just past Bloomingdales. It was summer, so not being in the mall was not a big deal for us. One might care more about this in the middle of winter.
Street level double doors, foyer, and second set of doors lead into the spacious restaurant.
If you cannot be seated immediately (and we were not), it is nice to know that the large waiting area is not claustropobic and includes benches.
Getting to our booth in the back was easy, with smooth floors and wide aisles. There are also tables and chairs to accommodate all. Outdoor seating is available in two patio areas in front of, and on the side of the building. Although the side area doesn’t have a great view, neither does it face the parking lot.
Our server was very pleasant and “aimed to please.” It was difficult to make a decision about what to order, the menu is so extensive. Not only that, this restaurant chain of more than 200 locations offers more than 50 varieties of cheesecake and other desserts. I personally am in favor of skipping the food and going straight to dessert ! The portions are quite substantial. Almost everyone I saw left with a doggie bag. Was it an entree or dessert? We enjoyed a lovely, relaxed lunch and plan to meet here again.
At the back of the waiting areas are large, multi-stall, handicapped-accessible restrooms that are easy to get to . There baby-changing stations as well.
As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to check a venue’s website, www.thecheesecakefactory.com, when planning a visit, to “know before you go.”
