The Festival of Arts takes place every summer in Laguna Beach. My last visit there was in 1999, long before I ever thought about handicapped accessibility. Here I was once again, lucky to be able to enjoy some incredible art in a beautiful venue that is easily accessible.
Handiciapped parking is available just outside the entrance. If that is full there is more parking across the street in one of the lots. Passengers can easily be dropped off in the circle.
Accessibility was very easy, as this is an open-air venue, with smooth concrete flooring and just a few inclines.
We visited the Festival in the lafternoon, before going to dinner at the Tivoli Terrace (see listing) and then to the performance of “Pageant of the Masters” (see listing). One of several live music performances was going on, people were sitting at tables and chairs, some on the grass, snacking and enjoying the atmosphere.
We walked around, talking with some of the artists and viewing their work. The Festival is opel day and well into the evening. If you have a ticket for the performance it entitles you to entrance at the Festival for that entire day.
Multi-stall restrooms are located near the entrance to Tivoli Terrace and near the entrance to the amphitheater. The restrooms near the restaurant are not handicapped-accessible.
A variety of drinks, snacks, and food is available for your enjoyment. We saw some people with their own picnics as well.
If you are visiting Laguna Beach in the summer this is a lovely place to spend some time.
As always, we at Destination Accessible advise you to check a venue’s website, www.lagunafestivalofarts.org, when planning a visit, to “know before you go.”
