Never expected to be at a trampoline play space! But here I was at my niece and nephew’s birthday party. I didn’t know quite what to expect.
Bounce is located at the back of an industrial park off Jericho Turnpike in Syosset, NY. There is a large paved parking lot without any designated handicapped spaces. The huge building appears to have been a warehouse of some sort.
Street level, double doors led into the main lobby where a hostess directed us to the correct party. The lobby has a good number of comfortable couches and a display of TVs on the wall where one can view the goings on in the bouncing areas.
We found multi-stall, handicapped accessible restrooms, with baby-changing stations, off the lobby. These restrooms are extremely easy to enter as they do not have any doors.
From the lobby, one can either climb a few steps or use the ramp to get to the play areas. The different areas are labelled according to age. One can remain on this walkway to view all of the areas. There are multiple jumping courts, slam dunk basketball courts, adult and children’s foam pits, giant inflatables, a trampoline bungee jump, and a totally separate Bounce Jr. for the youngest kids.
It was easy for us to stop anywhere along the walkway and have a great view of the goings on. If you need a place to rest, it can be found at either end of the building.
At the other end of the walkway, we found another lobby area with benches and tables, as well as the party rooms and some vending machines. We also found another set of easily accessible restrooms. Bounce’s website states that they have a “snack bar and lounge, as well as a coffee bar.” We were sorry that we did not see it.
The kids at this party all seemed to have a great time. We were impressed with the level of supervision we saw.
Besides visiting for a party, one can attend with a few friends or even with just your family. A large menu describing the options is posted at the check-in counter. It can also be found on Bounce’s website.
As I looked at the website after the party, I noticed that Bounce began “special needs activities in September, offering special needs nights with reduced rates.” They ask that people “make reservations in advance whenever possible.” This sounds like a very good thing!
As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to check a venue’s website, www.bounceonit.com, when planning a visit, to “know before you go.”
