The PEZ Visitor Center is just off of I95, Exit 41, in Orange, Connecticut. We were on our way back from Cape Cod, saw the sign and decided to stop. We weren’t expecting much, but were pleasantly surprised.
A large, paved parking lot has 4 handicapped spaces right next to the street level double doors.
Fun colors decorate the building and fun was what we found inside, “4,000 square feet dedicated to all things PEZ!” (brochure). This two level venue is part museum, part production and packaging facility, part trivia games, part shopping, and all fun. There was much more to see than we imagined. If you visit on a weekday you can view the packaging operation through large windows that are low enough for anyone to easily see what’s going on. Since we were there on a Sunday, all was quiet in there.
An elevator is available to take you to the second floor for more memorabilia, information, videos, seats, and a nice view of what’s going on below.
Viewing “”the largest, most comprehensive collection of PEZ memorabilia on display in the world,”” (brochure) is, for seniors, a nostalgic trip back in time. For the many young kids we saw it’s just a fun place. We met a dad with two daughters who said they had been there many times.
For a small entrance fee one receives a PEZ lanyard and a credit for of any purchase you may make. We couldn’t resist PEZ baseball team containers for our kids.
The large, multi-stall restrooms each had a spacious handicapped accessible stall.
We spent a very enjoyable hour and a half in this happy place.
Although there are no food services (except for lots of PEZ) in this venue, there are three picnic tables with umbrellas just outside the main entrance.
