I have been to the Dix Hills Diner many times, including business meetings once a month, No matter when I have been there, no matter for what meal, the food has always been excellent and the service friendly and welcoming. It is a real plus that it is accessible to all.
Parking is easy in the paved, parking lot. There are two accessible spaces close to the concrete ramp that leads to the double door entrance. If you are using the steps, there are four stone steps up the entrance. Once inside these doors there is an entryway and two, separate, single doors to get inside. Take note that the entrance is the door on the left, which is clearly marked.
There is always someone pleasant to greet you and get you seated. Roomy booths, a long counter, and tables and chairs (armless) have adequate space between them. The semi-private room at the back, where our group meets, is spacious as well.
The servers always go out of their way to accommodate all requests. Even when we are a large group, someone is always checking to see if we want more coffee, water, or anything else. What could be better?
I have had everything from spinach omelettes for breakfast, to a variety of wraps for lunch, and a wide range of salads or burgers for dinner. Everything has always been first-rate!
Their website states that they want to “provide at a fair-price, nutritious, well-prepared meals – using only quality ingredients.” They want to “ensure that all guests and staff are treated with respect and dignity, and most importantly, want to thank each guest for the opportunity to serve them.” My experience can attest to the fact that they do it, and they do it really well!
Multi-stall restrooms are located at the end of the ball in a separate area, requiring opening a door to get to the restroom area. Large, accessible stalls, an accessible sink and baby-changing stations make it easy for those with mobility limitations. Even the mirrors are low-enough for someone who is a wheelchair user.
No matter what meal or snack you are looking for, the Dix Hills Diner is a great choice.
As always, we at Destination Accessible advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.dixhillsdiner.com, when planning a visit, to know more.
