Having been to several of the other “Shed’s” on Long Island, we were happy to try the one in Westbury. Located in a residential building (The Shelby) on Merrick Avenue, we almost didn’t see it.
Parking was easy in the large, paved lot. There are six accessible spaces. It is important to note that there is a bit of a walk from even the closest parking spaces to the main entrance. You cannot drop someone off immediately in front of the entrance. There are several benches just outside the street-level, double door entrance.
An entryway and another set of double doors lead directly into the bright and modern space. Soaring ceilings and beautiful decor combine with spaciousness throughout. Linen tablecloths and napkins for lunch is a wonderful touch for me.
Seating is at tables, booths and a full-height bar. Take note that some of the booths require a step up, so be sure to make your needs known to the host/hostess. There is a beautiful outdoor dining space, which we will definitely be back to try when the weather is better.
The Shed doesn’t accept reservations, and we had a little wait for a table. We were seated at a table by a window, which was great.
Our server Robert, had some good suggestions. He was friendly and attentive, making sure everything was to our liking.
Our orders of “Eggs in the Garden,” and a made to order omelette were made to our requests. The both were delicious. The Shed makes “fresh, scratch-made dishes from the indulgent to the healthy – including vegan, vegetarian and gluten free.”
We had a relaxing lunch, with excellent service, in a very beautiful and accessible setting. We couldn’t have asked for anything more.
