Want to feel like you have stepped back into a 1920’s garage with Ford vehicles? Try a visit to Ford’s Garage at the Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove. Two vintage Ford’s and some other gas station items are located out front. Walk inside and feel as though you are on a movie set, of sorts.

Located at the front entrance to the Mall, this retro 1920’s service station inspired venue is a fun place to visit and a lovely place for food. It features classic  Ford vehicles and memorabilia.  I had lunch there between appointments and it did not disappoint.

Ford’s Garage was founded in 2012 in Fort Myers, Florida. There are now 32 locations in eight states. As an official licensee of the Ford Motor Company it “pays tribute to America’s most iconic auto brand by offering a truly historic dining experience, right down to the nostalgic auto shop uniforms and hand hammered copper b ar top at each location. It’s all about the details, great food and an unforgettable atmosphere.” (Website)

Since this is a large mall, there are accessible spaces throughout the paved lot.  There are five accessible spaces just across from the restaurant with easy access crossing the street.

The street-level double doors take you to the welcome desk, which is reminiscent of a garage service center. While you are here take some time to look around at all the memorabilia on the walls, hanging from the ceiling and and even decorating the restrooms!

Floors are smooth, seating is at tables (with armless chairs), several booths, and a very large, full-height bar. There is ample space throughout the restaurant.  There is outdoor seating in front of the garage door windows.

The menu is large and varied. I chose the Thai Salad from the lunch menu. It was quite good.  The dad and kids at the next table had burgers, which looked good. When I asked them how they liked them, they said that they were “delicious!” My server, Kay, was very friendly and attentive, making sure that I had enough coffee, etc. Another person even stopped by to see if everything was to my liking. It was!

This may sound silly, but one of my favorite places was the restroom. The sinks are set inside of tires (how cute is that?), with the water coming out of what appear to be gas pumps nozzles that go into the cars. The accessible stall is very large, with a sink and baby-changing inside fitting comfortably inside.

All is all, Ford’s Garage was a big hit with me.  I loved the retro vibe, as well as the food and service. I think you will love it as much as I did.

As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.fordsgarageusa.com, when planning a visit, to learn more.
