Louie’s, has been a staple in Port Washington since 1905. Now known as “Louie’s Prime Steak and Seafood,” it has been reimagined from a nautical theme, local, venue to an upscale restaurant that “pairs classic charm with modern sophistication.” (Website). I must say, it is quite beautiful!
Parking can usually be found either on the street (metered parking) or in their dedicated lot across the street (2 accessible spaces in the lot) . Note that the lot is quite hilly, so if you have a passenger with mobility limitations, it would probably be better to drop your passenger off at the entrance and then park.
As I entered the street-level, single door, entryway, and another door I was impressed by this “new” venue. This large venue, seemed even bigger to me as I looked around. The huge full-height bar, takes center stage straight ahead, with dining areas to both the right and left. There is ample space to navigate throughout. Seating is at tables (some chairs have arms, some do not),booths and banquettes.
Being that it was a beautiful day, we opted to sit on the outdoor patio, which overlooks Manhasset Bay. It is a beautiful view. If you are headed outside and cannot manage the small step from the dining room to the patio, go through the bar area where you can get outside without that step. It’s really nice that a part of the patio has glass protecting one on a windy day. We also need to note that if you are headed to the large party room in the back, there is a small step up to enter. Don’t hesitate to ask for help if you need it!
Sitting and contemplating the view, made it difficult to concentrate on the varied menu. When we finally decided, we both ordered seared tuna, one as a salad and one as a sandwich. Both of them were perfectly done!
Our server was lovely, making sure that everything was done to our liking.
Multi-stall restrooms have a large, accessible stall, accessible sink and baby-changing station.
All in all the “new” Louie’s is a great addition to Main Street, Port Washington.
