“Swing The Teapot” means to pass the teapot to the next person. If you choose to order one of the many varieties of tea available (32) at Swing The Teapot in Franklin Square, everyone can pass their teapot for others to take a taste.

Of course, you do not have to order tea.  There are many other drink choices at this quaint, accessible, neighborhood cafe, close to the Floral Park, LIRR Station.

My friend and I had no idea of what to expect. Several people had recommended it to me and since I am always looking for new places to try, this turned out to be a perfect choice for a lovely lunch.

It there any downsides to Swing The Teapot, it could be the parking.  One has to find metered street parking. We were lucky to find a spot very close on a Wednesday afternoon.  We have no idea what the situation is at other times.

Street-level, double doors lead to a small entryway and then a single door (with a small lip) to enter.

When we entered we were immediately struck by the “Tea Theme.”  All kinds of interesting items on the walls, some old tea machines, located throughout, a variety of teapots, cups and saucers on shelves and on our table.

We were immediately welcomed by a lovely woman, who showed us to a table and asked us if that spot was OK for us (How nice!).  Our server was also very lovely, making us feel at home.

Swing The Teapot is a quaint neighborhood cafe, with brick walls, wood floors, wood tables and chairs (armless), and banquettes in the main dining room.  It is spacious throughout, making navigation very easy. We discovered that there are two other dining areas as well. One of them is an indoor patio room. It was originally an outdoor area that has been closed in, but still feels like you are outside, with white tile floors and  large windows.  The other is a large room with some large tables to accommodate large parties.  There îș also a full-height bar

There are two large, accessible restrooms in the rear of the main dining area.

We discovered that the menu is quite large and varied. From a full Irish Breakfast, (with delicious Irish Soda Bread), to Irish and American bites for breakfast and lunch. There are wraps, salads, omelettes, paninis and burgers.  The burger and omelettes we ordered were both delicious, and my tea was excellent as well.

Swing The Teapot is open from 9:00 – 4:00 pm on Sundays – Wednesdays,

On Thursdays, until 9:30 for dinner. On Fridays, and Saturdays, they are open for dinner and live music, until 1:00 am.  Please do not depend on this as absolutely correct. You should call and check with the restaurant.

All we can say is that we loved our leisurely, delicious, lunch and will certainly be back for dinner and music.

As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.swingtheteapot.com, when planning a visit, to know more about the venue.
