The Capital Grill in Roosevelt Field was a wonderful surprise. We wanted a quiet place for a small birthday celebration and it turned out to be better than we ever anticipated.
When I made the reservation, I was asked if it was for any special occasion. Naturally, I responded that it was for a birthday, not expecting anything more than a “Happy Birthday” from the staff. It turned out to be so much more!
But I am getting ahead of myself. Located at Roosevelt Field, there is, of course a huge parking lot. I thought that if it was crowded, I had the option of valet parking. Wrong! There is no more valet parking during the day. Being next to the movie theater, and it being a school holiday, parking was a challenge. I don’t even remember how many accessible parking spaces I saw, but I know there are a number of them.
The stone entryway leads to the street-level, single door entrance, a small foyer, and another single door to the welcome area.
I was the first to arrive. A lovely woman escorted me to our spacious booth. Besides booths, there are tables set with white linen tablecloths and armless chairs, as well as a full-height bar and lounge area. There is ample space between tables for easy navigation. Flat carpet covers the floors and tiffany-like lighting sets the elegant and quiet mood.
As I slid into the booth, I was surprised to see an envelope that said, “Happy Birthday.” The table itself was sprinkled with small sticker-like balloons, birthday cakes and swirls that helped set the mood. What a lovely touch! Their website states that they “…aim to make every gathering special…” We couldn’t agree more.
Our servers could not have been any more gracious and accommodating!
They were especially lovely to the birthday person.
Everything was delicious. The salmon and crab cakes were amazing!
When it was time for dessert, a lovely birthday tray, complete with sparkler, was brought to the table. Not only was it beautiful, it was delicious!
Everything about our birthday celebration was attended to with great detail. The guest of honor couldn’t have been happier. Neither could we.
We can’t wait to celebrate again.
Multi-stall restrooms have a large accessible stall with a sink in it.
