Meeting some extended family for dinner brought us to Uncle Bacala’s in Garden City Park.
Valet parking made it easy to get to the street-level, double door entrance. Another set of double doors led us to the welcome area, where we were warmly greeted.
As I looked at the dining room, with its red and white checkered tablecloths and red leather banquettes, I was reminded of a small Italian Restaurant my family frequented when I was a kid. Besides the banquettes, there are tables with armless chairs, booths and a full-height bar. Our large, round table made conversation easy. The space between most of the tables is adequate for navigation.
Although the restaurant is large, once we were seated it felt much more intimate.
Our server was gracious and understanding, giving us plenty of time to chat and review the vast menu. Uncle Bacala’s website states that they have “something delicious for everyone.” After our dinner, we certainly agree! There are so many choices it was difficult to make a decision, Let’s just say that everyone ordered something different and everyone loved what they chose. Not only was everything delicious, the portions were so large that we all have enough to take home for another meal!
We were definitely too full for dessert, but cappuccino all around seemed perfect. Boy, were we surprised when freshly made Cotton Candy appeared at the table. We had no idea that every meal ended with this.
A single-occupancy, accessible restroom is located on this level. Take note that it is not large, but has handrails and an accessible sink. The towel dispenser may be a bit hight for a wheelchair user. Multi-stall restroom are located downstairs.
Uncle Bacala’s is a family friendly venue that is accommodating to all. It was a fun place to have a delicious, relaxing dinner with family.
