Jackson Hall had been recommended to us by more than a few friends, so we knew we had to give it a try. We finally got there on a late August Saturday.

Before we go any further, we must tell you that if you are a wheelchair user, or perhaps even a person who uses a walker, this restaurant may not be the best choice for you.  The multi-stall restrooms are quite small and not accessible. The stalls are quite narrow and do not have any handrails. Also, the sink is not accessible.  If these things are not an issue for you, then we hardily recommend Jackson Hall.

The paved, parking lot has two accessible spaces.

There is no problem getting to the double door entrance. If you want to go from the entrance to the large, outdoor patio area, there is a step down. You can also get to this area without the step by walking directly in from the parking lot.

Once inside, you will notice that this is a large venue. There is a long, full-height bar on the left, along with some high tables. To the right is a large dining room with well-spaced tables and banquettes. Navigation is fairly easy throughout. We were no able to get a reservation on the patio, so we were inside. Next time we hope to get seated outdoors. Although we sat near the large front windows that could open, they were not.

We had heard about the variety of lobster rolls, but didn’t expect that the rest of the menu would be so varied. Two of us tried two different lobster rolls.  One of us had the salmon and one had a panini. Everything was delicious!  Our server was lovely, making sure that we had everything we needed.

As I said earlier, the only downside is the lack of an accessible restroom. It is unfortunate that there is no accommodation for anyone with a mobility limitation.  We hope that they will consider adding one.

If you can manage without an accessible restroom, Jackson Hall is a great restaurant with wonderful food and service.!

As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.jacksonhallny.com, when planning a visit, to “know more before you go.”
