After finding out that the restaurant we were originally headed to had a private party, we were lucky to find our way to Luso, Smithtown. Family owned and operated since 2008, this Portuguese, wood-charcoal Rodizio, is amazing. Their website states that they want, “…to bring amazing food and professionalism to every person that walks through their doors.” After our dinner there, we think they do an incredible job of achieving their goals. Their, “…highly trained staff works hard to serve you and wants you to come back for more.” We will certainly be among those that will be back again and again.
We found a small, paved, parking lot in the rear of the building. It was a Sunday evening and we could not find a spot so we would up parking in the very close LIRR station (no problem parking on the weekend). If you are here during the week I am not sure where you might park. Also, we did not notice any accessible spaces in the restaurant’s lot.
If you park in the rear, there are steps to enter. You would do better to walk around to the front, where there is a ramp to that single door entrance.
There is a nice waiting area, with seating, if you need to wait. Even though the parking lot was full, we are able to get a table for four almost immediately. The restaurant is large, but it is nicely divided into three dining areas. There is ample space to navigate throughout. Tables are well spaced.
This is one of those restaurants where you can get a variety of meats brought to your table and carved right there, or you can order specific meals. Our server was lovely and helped us to navigate the menu. Salad, sides, etc. are served “family style.” We were asked if we wanted seconds of salad, sides, etc. We all ordered chicken dinners, which were absolutely delicious! Everything was excellent! We were really happy that we would up here.
Multi-stall restrooms have a large accessible stall and baby-changing station.
As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.lusorodizio.com, when planning a visit, to “know before you go.”
