The Charles B. Wang Center at Stony Brook University, is a 120,000 square foot building,… “dedicated to understanding Asian and American Cultures, and the interactions of these cultures with other world cultures.”

Having never been here, I was happy to be invited to a meeting. It is a beautiful,  easily accessible building, with large galleries, a theater, meeting rooms, an outdoor garden and The Jasmine Food Court. The building exudes a peaceful atmosphere.  The main entrance has a ramp and push-button assist to enter.

After the meeting I was lucky enough to get a tour of the building. It was lovely to walk around and see all that it has to offer.The Center offers  art installations, films, tours, events, and even an upcoming Cherry Blossom Festival in April. 

After my tour, I took advantage of some free time to look around more closely. I loved the serenity of the building. Several of the installations are long term and some are temporary. The theater has accessible ramps to most seats. Several rows at the back require steps to access them.

Unfortunately, it was too early for the Jasmine Food Court to be open. I was told that its offerings are delicious. There is a wide variety of Asian foods. I can tell you that it smelled delicious! I will be going back to check it out!

There are beautiful, multi-stall restrooms on each floor. Each has a large, accessible stall equipped with a sink in it. The restroom across from the Jasmin Food Court has push-button assist for both entering and exiting.There are baby- changing facilities as well.

Parking is in the garage directly opposite the Wang Center. Passengers can be dropped off before entering the garage, where there are two benches. There are many accessible spaces close to the entrance. I was told that after 4:00 pm. one can park in the lot next to the Wang Center.

This is a beautiful venue that I will definitely visit again.
