TOA, Melville, was a perfect place to meet friends for dinner. Parking was easy in the paved lot. Three accessible spaces are close to street-level, double door, entrance. If that doesn’t work, there is a huge parking lot (the Melville Mall) behind the restaurant. The restaurant itself is located close to and facing Route 110.
Once inside, we found beautiful decor with rich, wooden finishes and great attention to detail. The attention to detail is also in the beautiful decorated plates, cups, and even matching chopsticks!
TOA stands for Taste of Asia. Their mission is…”the authentic creation of region specific Asian Cuisine. Their intention is to spread the flavor or the most popular, traditional meals from Asia… and bring it here with a modern flair…”
There are several dining areas, each of which has enough space between tables for easy navigation and conversation! The sushi bar is low, accommodating regular height chairs, making it easy for anyone to sit there. In good weather there is outdoor dining.
The menu is varied and interested. Our group decided on Duck Negimaki, Shrimp Dumplings, Sushi/Sashimi dinner for Two, and Mongolian Skillet Beef. The Sushi/Sashimi was as good as we have had in any restaurant, the Duck Negimaki was outstanding, the the Mongolian Beef and dumplings were also winners! All of that great food plus friendly and professional service made for a wonderful evening.
We have always liked TOA, Farmingdale. Now we have an equally good location closer to our home.
As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.toamelville.com, when planning a visit, to “know before you go.”
