How often do you find a restaurant that not only serves good food, has great service, eclectic decor and does good all the time?  Personally, I had never found one, until today. Restoration Kitchen combines all of the above. Opened in 2018, its goal is to “remind people to BE THE GOOD they want to see in the world and pay it forward.” They believe that “together we can make a difference.”  I was blown away when I read that on their website. The owners wanted to “…open a restaurant with a purpose,” so they made the decision to “donate their net profits to charities and local families in need .”  It seems more than a coincidence that they bought a building that was built in 1908 by the “Odd Fellows” an organization whose goal was to, “…restore faith in humanity, one person at a time.”  We did not know any of this when we walked in for lunch. We found some information about their charitable efforts on one of the walls and much more of it in the “leather” folder that was on the table along with the menus.

Now on to our visit. We pulled into the paved, parking lot and found two accessible spaces near the wooden ramp leading to a single door entrance.  There are also five steps here. The main entrance seems to be around the corner, first going up stone steps and then wooden steps to reach the single door entry. Once in here, you find yourself in a sort of solarium like area, with large glass windows. Further inside, we found eclectic decor, including old Singer-sewing machine bases for some tables. Everything is homey and appealing, making you want to look around at everything they have used to decorate. One wall has a large sign, indicating their charity work (wonderful!). Tables of varying sizes, a full-height bar and some high-top tables have ample space between them to make navigation easy. We understand that there is an outdoor deck, but we seem to have missed it. Guess we will check it out when we return.

Our server was lovely. We were there for lunch on a weekday, so it wasn’t very busy. From the look of the St. Pat’s Day decorations, we thought that this is probably a fun place to celebrate.  The menu is interesting, making it difficult to choose. In the end, my veggie wrap was delicious, and the sweet-potato tots amazing. My lunch date had a stuffed burger and side salad which were also quite good.

Large, single-occupancy restrooms are accessible, and having baby-changing stations. The only downside is that the soap is on a shelf that is a bit too high for someone in a wheelchair to reach. We mentioned it and hope they will move the shelf lower to make it more accessible.

A restaurant with good food, good service and “giving to others,” can’t be beat! We will return!

As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.restorationli.com, when planning a visit, to “know before you go.”
