A sunny Saturday morning after Thanksgiving brought us to Hatch in Huntington. Having wanted to try it several times before we finally went early enough to get in without a wait. Having now been there, we can definitely say it is worth a wait!
Located on Main Street in the heart of Huntington, parking has to be found on the street or in one of the town lots. Because of the early time, we had no problem getting a spot.
We were happy to see several benches outside. We were even happier to see a push button assist to the right of the street-level, double doors. There is also a button to the left of the doors as one exits the restaurant. Unfortunately, the button was not working this morning. Hopefully, by the time you read this, they will have been repaired.
You can’t help but smile once you enter. The cheerful decor and welcoming staff are a winning combination. Booths line both sides, with a creative arrangement of tables and banquettes in the center. A full height counter (bar) is at the rear. There is plenty of room to navigate. There are also some tables that can be made to larger to accommodate bigger parties. It all seems to work well.
Now on to our reason for coming. We had heard about the great breakfasts served here. Everything we heard was true. Each of our orders was delicious, from the Santa Fe Breakfast Sandwich, to the Country Breakfast Skillet to the Southern Biscuits and Gravy. Everything was done just as we had ordered. Our server couldn’t have been nicer, checking on us regularly and making sure our coffee cups were never empty.
A very pleasant surprise came when visiting the restroom. The two, very large, non-gender, accessible restrooms are simply lovely. Not only do they appear large enough to accommodate any type of wheelchair, they have enough handrails to help most, both paper towels and a hand dryer, and a baby-changing station. Plus, it’s a great place to take a “selfie!” If you go, you’ll see what we mean!
Everything about Hatch was delightful! We loved it and will be back. We heard that they are about to serve dinner – we will definitely have to go!
As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.hatchbrunch.com, when planning a visit, to “know before you go.”
