An invitation to meet some friends for Happy Hour led us to Bertucci’s and a very happy two hours. We were surprised by the size of the parking lot.  The large, paved lot has 5 handicapped spaces, 4 of them right next to the entrance.  Two sets of street level, double doors took us into the very spacious lobby and bar area.

Bar stools at the bar, tables, and booths with plenty of room around them make this an easily accessible location for anyone.  It was easy for us to move from one location to another to talk to different people. As we looked around the dining room, we saw two spacious areas, one with tile, the other carpeted.  There was ample space between tables for anyone to be comfortable.

We liked that we could see into the large, open kitchen with its brick oven.Having had drinks and some delicious appetizers, we were not really ready for dinner.  We plan to return another evening for that.

The multi-stall restrooms with a large handicapped-accessible stall are easy to get to and easy to enter and exit. They have a baby-changing station.

Since this is a chain (89 restaurants from New England to Virginia) (website), we hope that the other locations are just as welcoming as this one for people with mobility impairments.  In speaking to the hostess it seems that they will do their best to make everyone as comfortable as possible. She suggested that if anyone has any specific requests, please call and ask.

As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to check a venue’s website,, when planning a visit, to “know before you go.”
